LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf kicked off its annual home tournament, the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Sunday afternoon at Boulder Creek Golf Club and finished day one in a tie for second after a season-best 11-under 277 in the first round.
The top performers of the day for the Rebels were freshman Polly Mack and junior Elizabeth Prior, who was playing in her first action this year after a medical issue kept her out for the start of the season. Mack and Prior each shot a 5-under 67 to sit in a tie for third, while senior Mackenzie Raim was the next highest on the leaderboard in a tie for 14th at 2-under.
Missouri carded the best team round of the day, a 13-under 275, to lead the tournament heading in to day two. The Tigers' Emma Allen also ended day one atop the leaderboard after shooting a 7-under 65.
REBEL OF THE DAY: Elizabeth Prior, a 2016 Mountain West All-Conference Second Team selection, had a stellar junior year debut, shooting a 5-under 67, which was three strokes better than her best single-round score during her sophomore campaign.
