Rebels Ready for March Mayhem in San Diego

LAS VEGAS ( - UNLV Women's Golf UNLV Women's Golf will play its third tournament in the span of two weeks as the team heads to San Diego, Calif., for San Diego State's March Mayhem tournament, March 20-22, at The Farms Golf Club. The three-day tournament features 72-holes of match play -- the first time this year the Rebels will compete in match play competition.

The Rebels finished in a tie for fourth at the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational in Tucson, Arizona, March 10-12, their last time out. That came three days after they won the Battle at Boulder Creek at their home course of Boulder Creek Golf Club after shooting 12-under as a team. It was their first team tournament win of the 2016-17 season, while junior Mackenzie Raim picked up her second career tournament win in a span of three weeks, taking medalist honors by five strokes. Senior Vivian Chen, playing as an individual, also turned in a highlight of the tournament, shooting a 65 in round two to match the second-lowest single round score in program history. In Tucson, UNLV finished at 15-over to tie for fourth with No. 23 Oklahoma. Harley Dubksy was the top Rebel performer, finishing in a tie for fifth after carding her second straight 2-under, capping off the best week of her junior campaign with two top-five finishes.

SDSU's March Mayhem tournament will take place on a par 72 6,211 yard course at The Farms Golf Club in San Diego. Sixteen teams will be competing in the match play format, with round one matches determined by current Golfstat rankings. The Rebels are set to face Old Dominion in their first round match, with play beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday morning. The first day will feature 36 holes, followed by 18 on Tuesday and 18 on Wednesday. Tee times and matchups for the second and third days will be determined based on Monday's results. REBELS RANKINGS IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST:  With their first and fourth place finishes last week, the Rebels have moved up the conference leaderboard to the top spot with a 292.86 scoring average and a 5.43 scoring average against par. They also still own the lowest single round score in the conference this year with a 279, which came in the second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in October. Individually, UNLV has four players ranked in the top-10 in the Mountain West, with Raim up to third in scoring average with a 72.67, followed by Kaui in seventh with a 73.71, Prior in eighth with a 73.76 and Dubsky in 10th at 74.17.

THE FIELD: Including the No. 39 Rebels and tournament host No. 28 San Diego State, the field contains a total of 16 teams, including three in Golfstat's top-20 and eight in the top-50. The teams are as follows: No. 2 USC, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 17 Arizona, No. 29 California, No. 31 BYU, No. 38 Pepperdine, Old Dominion, Washington State, Idaho, Fresno State, Iowa, New Mexico, San Francisco and Yale. The highest ranked individual player in the tournament is Arizona's Haley Moore, who is currently eighth in the country according to Golfstat.
