LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 22 UNLV women's golf will conclude its fall slate with a second trip to Texas in October, this time to Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by Southern Methodist University. The Rebels will compete in the two-day, 54-hole tournament Monday, October 30 and Tuesday, October 31 on a par 72 6,372-yard course at the Trinity Forest Golf Club. Play begins Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT, with two rounds being played on day one and the final round on day two Tuesday, also a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
The Rebels are coming off their best performance of the season just last week when they won their home-hosted tournament, the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, at Boulder Creek Golf Club. As a team, the Scarlet & Gray shot a 17-under over three rounds to win by 10 strokes, their second win at their own tournament in the last three years and third overall in the 16-year history. Junior Elizabeth Prior, playing in her first tournament of the year after sitting out the first month due to a medical issue, turned in a career-best tournament, shooting a 67-66-67 to capture medalist honors at 16-under, which is tied for the lowest 54-hole score in program history.
With the victory, UNLV enters the top 30 in the country for the first time this season in both the Golfweek and Golfstat rankings at No. 29 and No. 22, respectively.
The Trinity Forest Invitational marks the last tournament of the fall for the Rebels, who will resume their spring season at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Feb. 11-13, 2018.
