LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf junior Elizabeth Prior has been named the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Month for the month of October, announced by the league office Wednesday.
Playing in her first tournament of her junior campaign after being sidelined with an injury for the first month, Prior carded a career-best 16-under 200 to earn her second individual collegiate tournament victory. The Surrey, England, native shot a 67, 66, 67 over three rounds, with her second-round 66 tying for fourth-lowest in program history and her 16-under tying for lowest three-round score by a Rebel golfer. Prior sunk a tournament-high 19 birdies - six in the first, seven in the second and six in the third - against just three bogeys - one each day - to win by 10 strokes and capture medalist honors. The junior added a top-30 finish in October at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Texas, shooting a 15-over 231 to tie for 30th.
This is the first conference honor for Prior and UNLV's first since senior Mackenzie Raim was named Women's Golfer of the Week on March 1, 2017.
The Rebels wrapped up their fall slate with a 12th place finish in Dallas and will have a few months off before returning to action at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge February 11-13, 2018 in Palos Verdes, California.
