LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf has signed Las Vegas local Veronica Joels to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play for the Rebels next year, head coach Amy Bush-Herzer announced Friday.

"It's awesome to keep such a local talent in Las Vegas," said Bush-Herzer. "Veronica is a wonderful addition to UNLV and I am excited she gets to continue to represent our great city. We can't wait to get her out on the course wearing the Scarlet and Gray next year."

Joels, who attends Meadows High School in west Las Vegas, has been a golf prodigy at the prep level for many years, winning over 100 titles at the local, national and international levels. The senior, who is scheduled to graduate in the spring, signed her NLI at a reception at TPC Summerlin Thursday night.

Joels placed second individually at the Nevada State Championship last year, with her team finishing second overall as well. She was also recently approved by the NIAA to play for the Meadows' high school boys team this year, where she will compete for a state championship in the spring.
