Senior Sophie Cortes tabbed a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team selection.
2017 (Senior): Had a breakout senior year, starting all 20 games and leading the team with a career-high 12 goals and 32 points ... Was also second on the team with eight assists ... Her 32 points rank second all-time in a single-season behind the 38 former teammate Lily Sender set in 2016 ... Her 12 goals are tied for third all-time while her eight assists are tied for fourth all-time in a single-season ... Was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 28 after scoring three goals in a pair of wins over Utah Valley and Southern Utah ... Named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week twice, on Aug. 29 and again on Sept. 19 scoring a trio of goals in another pair of Rebel wins ... Recorded three games with at least two goals (Aug. 27 vs. Southern Utah, Sept. 15 at CSU Bakersfield and Oct. 27 vs. Nevada, Reno) and registered a point in all but six games on the year ... For the second straigh year was named a Mountain West All-Conference First Team selection and earned her first career United Soccer Coaches All-West Region nod.
2016 (Junior): Turned in an outstanding junior campaign, playing and starting all 23 games ... Was fourth on the team in total points with 14 after registering career highs for goals (4) and assists (6) ... Named a Moutain West All-Conference First Team selection ... Scored first career goal on Sept. 16 in a 3-2 win at home over Cal State Bakersfield ... On the same weekend on Sept. 18, helped UNLV to a double overtime 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton after drawing a penalty in the box in the second overtime period and making the ensuing penalty kick to secure the win ... That week she was a Honorable Mention selection for Topdrawersoccer.com's National Team of the Week and was named UNLV Athletic Department's Oustanding Rebel of the Week ... On opening weekend of conference play the next weekend, she drew another foul in the box and completed the penalty kick in the final minutes of a 4-1 victory over Fresno State on Sept. 25 ... Scored her fourth goal in the Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship game on Nov. 5, scoring off a header to put the Rebels up 1-0 early in the game ... Named to the MW All-Tournament team ... Also was an All-Tournament selection at the UNLV Invitational after securing her first assist of the season in a 3-2 win over Eastern Washington.
2015 (Sophomore): Played in all 21 games with five games played…Assisted on a goal in a win at New Mexico (Oct. 4)…Placed four of nine shots on goal.
2014 (Freshman): Played in 18 games and made nine starts in her first season as a Rebel ... Posted two assists and attempted 20 shots.
High School: Three-year starter ... Led Indians to a league title her senior year, and to the CIF Division 2 finals as well ... Named Foothill League Player of the Year after posting 11 goals and 12 assists for 34 points ... Three-time All-CIF, two-time All-Foothill League selection ... Santa Clarita Valley Signal Player of the Year, and was a nominee for the paper's Most Exciting Player to Watch.
