Rebels Top Denmark Squad 6-0

LAS VEGAS - UNLV opened up its spring season with a 6-0 win over an international team from Denmark on Wednesday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
The night's first game came just 46 second into the contest when Ashleigh Shoughro served an end line cross and Amanda Forrester headed it into the net past the keeper. Less than three minutes later Colette Jepson finished off a goal with the inside of her left foot off an assist from Kathy Orellana. UNLV would go up 3-0 in the first half on another Forrester header, this time off of a corner kick from Sarah Naranjo in the 15th minute.
Shoughro began the scoring in the second half when she slotted a shot past the goalkeeper on a breakaway in the 38th minute. Julie Owens received a ball laid off from Kathy Orellana and drove the ball into the back of the net from about 25 yards out for the Rebels' fifth goal in the 46th minute. UNLV finished the scoring in the 65th minute on a rocket from Brittany Flores to the far upper corne rof the goal from about 18 yards out.
The Rebels' next spring game will be on March 20 against a team to be determined in a 7 pm contest at the Betty Wilson complex.
