LAS VEGAS - In the first game of the UNLV Spring Tournament on April 14 at Peter Johann Memorial Stadium, it was a battle between Mountain West foes, UNLV and Utah. The Utes saw their best opportunity of the match early on when a free kick was called near the edge of the UNLV 18-yard box. But the left footed blast from a Utah defender was denied by senior Tanya Roberts.

The Rebels tallied three shots in the first half but it took until almost midway through the second half to find the back of the net for the lone goal of the game. Katie Carney sent in a corner kick that was partially cleared toward the opposited sideline. Defender Brie Kuhne chased down the ball and crossed it back into the box where junior Katie Carney was waiting at the back post to tuck the ball away.

In the second match of the day for both teams, UNLV and Wisconsin-Milwaukee took to the pitch. The game started slowly for both teams, but the Rebels came out after halftime ready to play and quickly got on the scoreboard. Once again Carney tallied the only goal of the match, this time off of a cross from junior Jessica Destito.

The Rebels have yet to give up a goal in the spring and will look to improve upon their record on Saturday, April 21 when they face UC-Riverside and the Ajax of the WPSL in Southern California.
