Rebels Drop First Loss Of Season|

ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF scored once in each half to hand the UNLV women's soccer team its first loss of the season, 2-1 on Friday afternoon in the second game of the UCF Invitational.
The Knights scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute, when Courtney Whidden sent a shot to the left corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead. Nikki Moore and Amanda Martorana assisted on the score.
UNLV tied the match one minute into the second half, when Katie Carney sent a pass to Niki Connolly, who then slotted the ball across the box and into the top right corner of the net. UCF answered back with the game-winner in the 58th minute. This time, Yvonne George passed off to Becca Thomas, who from 10 yards out in the box scored past UNLV goalkeeper Alicia Lugo for a 2-1 advantage.
The play was even for most of the game, as UCF held a 10-9 edge on shots. Lugo finished with three saves in the contest, while Jennifer Manis posted one save.
The Rebels return to action in the UCF Invitational on Sunday morning, where they will meet 22nd-ranked South Carolina at 8 am (PST).
