ORLANDO, Fla. - The UNLV women's soccer team was handed its second-straight one-goal defeat, as the Rebels fell to 22nd-ranked South Carolina 1-0 on Sunday morning in the third game of the UCF Invitational in Orlando. With the loss, the Rebels are now 2-2 on the year, while the Gamecocks improved to a perfect 4-0.

South Carolina controlled the ball for the majority of the game, holding a 22-6 advantage of shots. Alicia Lugo didn't make things easy for the Gamecocks however, as the UNLV goalkeeper came up with a career-high 13 saves. However, it was off one of those saves that the game-winner would be scored. In the 71st minute, Shannon Highie took a shot that was blocked by Lugo, but the ball came back out to Highie who shoot again from inside the box into the goal for the score.

The Rebels will return to action on Friday, with a road contest at Pepperdine at 3 pm (PST) in Malibu, followed by a Sunday afternoon game at UC Santa Barbara at 1 pm.
