LAS VEGAS - UNLV bounced back from its first home loss of the season with a dominating performance, outshooting Niagara 22-2 on the way to a 4-0 victory on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the UNLV Rebels Classic in women's collegiate soccer action from Peter Johann Memorial Field. The Rebels improved to 7-2-1 with the win, their best-ever record 10 games into a season. Niagara meanwhile dropped to 5-2-1 for the season.

UNLV was on the attack from the start, and quickly put themselves on the scoreboard in the 3rd minute when Amanda Forrester scored after heading in a pass from Brie Kuhne. The Rebels would score again the first half, when Ashleigh Shoughro was fouled from behind in the box, drawing a penalty kick. Brianna Moore converted the kick for UNLV when she sent her shot to the top left corner, making the score 2-0 in the 40th minute.

The third goal of the afternoon came in the 62nd minute, as Niki Connolly dribbled into the box and forced Niagara goalie Ashleigh Bowers to come off her line. Bowers lunged for the ball, but Connolly sidestepped her and shot to the far left post for the score. Kelly Labor assisted on the score. UNLV's final game came thanks to Shoughro, when she stole a pass from a Purple Eagle defender, took on the goalie one-on-one and slotted a shot to the left post for the goal, her fifth of the year, at the 76th minute.

UNLV had 14 shots on goal, and did not allow a shot by Niagara until the 56th minute. Alicia Lugo returned as the Rebels' starter in goal and had to make just one save to earn the shutout. Bowers was credited with 10 saves in the net for Niagara.

The Rebels' homestand concludes on Thursday, when it hosts Northern Colorado on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
