TEMPE, Ariz. - Used to the scorching desert heat, the UNLV women's soccer team could not withstand the flames of Arizona State suffering a 3-0 shutout Sunday afternoon at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

In the 11th minute, Arizona State's Brittany Cooper found a cross from teammate Elizabeth Bogus to take the early 1-0 lead. Later at 12:19, Haley van Blommestein completed a shot from 10-yards out off a pass from Cooper, hitting the lower left back of the net for ASU's second goal of the game.

Kelley Bond scored the Sun Devils' final goal of the contest at 45:55 on a double assist by teammates Manya Makoski and Cooper. With the shutout, ASU snapped the Rebels' 34-game goal scoring streak which first began on Oct. 18, 2000. The Sun Devils also limited UNLV to seven shot attempts the entire match.

In the loss, freshman goalkeeper Jenna Huff (Huntington Beach, Calif.) made seven saves, while Arizona State's Kelly Fitzgerald earned the shutout with six saves.

The Rebels (6-2-1) conclude their five-game road stretch this weekend with non-conference matchups between Cal Poly on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. and Cal State Northridge on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2:30 p.m.
