Draw at Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - With UNLV trailing by a score late in the contest, freshman Erica Meier scored her first career goal to send the game into overtime and help the Rebels come away with a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Cal State Fullerton in women's college soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Titan Stadium.
Following a scoreless first half, CSUF (5-4-2) struck first in the second stanza with a goal in the 63rd minute, as Ann Marie Tangorra stole a pass and sent a shot to the right post for a 1-0 edge. With the second half winding down, UNLV (3-7-2) came up with the tying score when Meier headed in a free kick from Jenna Larkin in the 86th minute.
Though CSUF held a 15-6 edge on shots in the first two halfs, it was more even in the overtime periods, with the Titans taking five to three for the Rebels. Each team came up with one save each to preserve the tie. CSUF took seven corner kicks to three for the Rebels, while shots on goal was 7-4 in favor of the Titans. UNLV goalkeeper Kylie Wassel made six saves in goal, and Lindsey Maricic was credited with three for the home team.
UNLV returns to action on Friday, Sept. 30, with its Mountain West opener against TCU at 7 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
