Magliulo Records First Career Hat Trick
Sept. 29, 2002
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - UNLV women's soccer forward Annii Magliulo (Pengrove, Calif.) recorded her first career hat trick in a 4-2 non-conference victory over Cal State Northridge Sunday afternoon at Matador Soccer Field.
Cal State Northridge got out in front first on a game-opening goal by Shannon DeVos, who headed the ball off a corner kick play by teammates Brynne Blumstein and Cindy Mallett at 16:44. Magliulo, a sophomore, dribbled a pass from defender Codi Schumaker (Torrance, Calif.) up the middle and faked out CSUN goalkeeper Jen Jasper for the tying goal at 33:56.
Mallett later found Chandra Lovejoy at the top of the box in the 44th minute to give Northridge a 2-1 lead into halftime.
In the second half, freshman Angie Inzana (Littleton, Colo.) scored her first career goal as a Rebel from 15-yards out on a double assist by Magliulo and senior Lora Crammer (Las Vegas) to equalize the game at 2-2.
Magliulo, the Rebels current leading scorer, followed up with back-to-back goals at 81:29 and 86:31 to seal the road victory. She becomes only the second player in school history to record a hat trick and now holds the school record for most points in a game (7).
Ironically two years to the same exact day, former Rebel standout Janae Sims (1998-2001) recorded the program's first hat trick at Long Beach State on Sept. 29, 2000. The women's soccer program was first incepted at UNLV in 1998. Magliulo has scored 19 points this season on nine goals and one assist for a career 30 points to-date.
The Rebels (7-3-1) complete their five-game road stretch and will next host the University of Houston on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. The non-conference match will be played at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
