LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's soccer team claimed its fifth shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over the University of Houston Saturday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field.

The game would be decided in the second half of play, after a scoreless first half by both teams.

In the 55th minute, sophomore Annii Magliulo (Pengrove, Calif.) sent a left side cross into the goal box with senior co-captain Cosette Packer (Henderson, Nev.) executing a perfect header into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, Magliulo found a breakaway goal up the middle for her third-point of the match. Magliulo, reigning Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, leads the team and conference with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists to-date.

Freshman goalkeeper Jenna Huff (Huntington Beach, Calif.) earned her third shutout of the year with two saves, while Houston goalkeeper Erin Ferguson had five saves in the loss. The Rebels outshot the Cougars, 11-4.

UNLV improves to 8-3-1 and will next open conference play on Sunday, Oct. 13 versus league rival New Mexico at noon in Las Vegas.
