PROVO, Utah - In a matchup of the top two teams in the preseason conference poll, the home team prevailed as BYU posted a 1-0 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West Conference women's soccer contest on Thursday night. The win moved the Rebels' record to 9-4-1, and 1-1 in league play, while BYU improved to 9-5, 2-0 in the conference.

BYU was on attack the entire game, holding a 28-6 edge on total shots, including 13-1 in the first half. UNLV's defense held strong throughout though, with Rebel goalkeeper Alicia Lugo recording a career-high 14 saves. The Cougars would score the lone goal of the game in the 53rd minute, off a score from Whitney Feller. Lauren Anderson and Andrea Willis both assisted on the goal.

UNLV will conclude its three-game MWC road trip on Saturday at Utah in a 6 pm (PST) contest.
