LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Seniors and Las Vegas natives Amanda Forrester and Ashleigh Shoughro combined for all three goals, including the game-winner with under seven minutes left to carry UNLV past Wyoming 3-2 in Mountain West Conference women's soccer action on Thursday night from Peter Johann Memorial Field. The win improved the Rebels to 9-5, 1-2 in league play, while Wyoming dropped to 6-8-1, and 0-2-1 in the conference.

Shoughro's goal was also her 11th of the year, tying the record that she shares with Annii Magliulo (2002) and Anita Pedford (2001). Shoughro scored 11 in 2008, and now has 24 in her career, just one behind the school record of 25, shared by both Magliulo and Pedford.

Wyoming actually held an early 1-0 lead just over three minutes into the contest, when a corner kick was deflected out to Jules Candelaria, and she sent in a shot from 30 yards out to the top left corner of the goal. Forrester would tie the game for UNLV in the 17th minute when Sarah Naranjo headed a pass to her on the left side, and she blasted a shot to the far post.

The game would go into halftime still tied at 1-1, but again Wyoming would score a quick goal, this time less then five minutes into the start of the second half. Liz Oreilly headed a ball downfield, and Ellen McCormick outraced the UNLV backline to the ball and quickly unleashed a shot though Rebel goalie Kylie Wassell for a 2-1 edge.

Less then one minute later UNLV would tie the game, on Forrester's second goal of the night. This time a Rebel corner kick landed in the box, and after a scramble for the ball, it came out to Forrester on the right side and she sent it back towards the goal and to the back of the net in the 51st minute. It was the first two-goal performance of her career.

The game remained tied for the next 33 minutes, before Shoughro's game-winner. Elizabeth Billington started the play as she chipped a pass over the defenders, giving Shoughro a chance to run it down. She stayed onside, tracked down the ball, and scored on a shot from the right-side for her fourth game-winner of the year in the 84th minute.

UNLV held a commanding 16-4 edge on shots, and 8-1 on corner kicks. Wassell was credited with one save in goal, while Courtney Merkle made five while allowing three goals.

The Rebels will play their final home game of the season on Saturday, with a Senior Day contest against Air Force at 1 pm at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
