SALT LAKE CITY - League rival Utah handed the UNLV women's soccer team a 4-0 shutout in Mountain West Conference play Saturday afternoon at Ute Field.
The Utes used a pair of two goal halves to claim the shutout over the Rebels. Junior Missy Dennis began the scoring assault at 26:52 unassisted on a straight away goal, which hit the lower right corner of the net. Teammate Lauren Field later put in a breakaway goal from the middle of the goal box to stretch Utah's lead to 2-0.
In the second half, back-to-back goals were scored by Bobbie Benegas in the 77th minute and Katie Tate in the 79th minute to put the game out of reach.
Freshman goalkeeper Jenna Huff (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had a career-high 10 saves on 23 shots by the Utes, while Utah goalkeeper Lynnsey Asay made one save.
