Bernal Lifts Rebels At Fresno State|

FRESNO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - Freshman forward and Las Vegas native Susie Bernal scored the lone goal of the game to give UNLV a 1-0 victory at Fresno State in the regular season finale for both teams in Mountain West women's soccer action Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium.
With the win, UNLV improved to 11-3-4 overall and 3-1-3 in the MW. The Rebels finish fourth in the regular season standings with 12 points, setting up a rematch with the fifth-seeded Bulldogs in the first round of the 2012 MW Championships. Fresno State (4-10-5) finished in a tie for fifth with Nevada, Reno but hold the tiebreaker over the Wolf Pack. UNLV and FSU will play on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7 pm. This year's tournament being held at San Diego State.
"It feels fantastic, especially in the manner of how we won, playing in a tough environment on a turf football field," said UNLV head coach Michael Coll. "The win will give us confidence going into the tournament, but I expect every matchup to be a battle. This year has been nothing short of excellence for our team, and I hope it continues next week as well."
The first half ended in a scoreless 0-0 tie, with the host Bulldogs taking eight of the 11 shots over the opening 45 minutes. UNLV stepped up its attack in the second half, with a 7-6 edge on shots, and struck gold in the 66th minute. Jenn Wolfe assisted on the game-winning score, sending in a cross from the left side right in front of the goal, where Bernal would score for her third score of the year, and a 1-0 Rebel lead.
That lead held up for the rest of the game, and UNLV would earn its sixth shutout in the past eight games with goalkeeper Kylie Wassell posting six saves on the night. Katie DeVault finished with four saves for the Bulldogs. FSU ended the game with a 14-10 edge on shots, and 3-2 on corner kicks.
