LAS VEGAS - Dan Abdalla, who coached the UNLV women's soccer program for the last five years, has resigned to take over the women's soccer head coaching job at TCU, it was announced Tuesday. Abdalla replaces David Rubinson, who resigned earlier this year.
Abdalla was 54-38-8 during his time in Las Vegas, and guided the Lady Rebels their first-ever Mountain West Conference regular season championship in 2004 with a 5-1 league mark. UNLV also finished with a 12-5-1 mark last year while earning its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid.
The second coach in UNLV's history, he was named MWC Coach of the Year in 2004, and also earned region Coach of the Year Runner-Up honors. He was a four-year letterwinner and starting goalkeeper from 1994-97 at UNLV, and returned to the school in 1999 to serve as assistant coach for the women's team.
