Rebels Giving Back To The Community

LAS VEGAS -
For the second straight spring, the UNLV women's soccer coaching staff asked each class to come up with a community service event for the whole team to participate in. The junior class choose for the team to participate in "Meals on Wheels". We now present Kelly Labor's report on the team's experience. In future days, we will also show what the freshman and junior classes chose as well.
When i came time to pick our community service project, we wanted to select one that directly involved the university. This year we decided to team up with an on-campus group called "Meals on Wheels." This group met frequently on Fridays to put together sacked lunches that would be later delivered to the Salvation Army in North Las Vegas.
When our team walked in, we were instantly put to work at different stations. A few made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches while others put apples and Oreo packets in the brown bags. Others ran the sandwiches over to the table where the majority of the team was stationed. That station was the final bagging and placing of finished lunches into big tubs.
