LAS VEGAS ( - Erica Jensen has been named as an assistant coach for the women's soccer team at UNLV, head coach Jennifer Klein announced. A Las Vegas native, Jensen returns to her hometown after a stellar three-year career for the Rebels from 2005-07.

"I'm very excited to have Erica come back to our team," said Klein. "She was an excellent player and leader during her time at UNLV as an undergrad. She brings a lot of energy to the role, as well as pride for being part of the Rebel program. She's a great addition to our staff."

Jensen played her freshman year for Big West champion Cal State Fullerton before transferring to UNLV in 2004. She appeared in 64 games for the Rebels, and started 55 games. A two-year team captain, Jensen led the Rebels to three straight Mountain West championships (2005, 2006, 2007). One of the top defensive midfielders in the conference, Jensen earned second team All-MW honors in 2006, first team All-MW honors in 2007 and was named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team three times.

After her playing career ended, Jensen held several different positions in the athletics. She was an undergraduate assistant coach for the Rebels during the 2008 season, and worked as a student intern in the UNLV Athletic Media Relations Office during the 2009-10 academic year. After a summer internship with WPS (Women's Professional Soccer) in 2010, Jensen spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant sports information director for CSU Bakersfield, which saw her serving as the primary contact for the Roadrunner men's and women's soccer programs and women's basketball, among other sports.

She earned a double bachelors' degree in journalism & mass media studies and psychology in 2008 and recently received her master's degree in sports education leadership, both from UNLV. Jensen currently serves as a head coach and trainer for Player's Soccer Club in Las Vegas in addition to her role with UNLV. She also is an assistant with the Nevada ODP program, and holds her NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.
