The UNLV women's soccer team hopes to bounce back from a loss in its last game as it takes off to the Midwest for a pair of games in the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. All About The Rebels
UNLV split its opening weekend under first-year head coach Michael Coll. The Rebels shutout Northern Arizona 2-0 on Aug. 17, before dropping a wild contest to Hawaii, 5-4, that saw six goals scored in the second half.
Junior forward Jenn Wolfe was the story of the first weekend, as she matched her career goal output of the first two seasons after posting a total of three goals over the first two games. Senior midfielder Macy Jo Harrison, and all-conference selection from a year ago, recorded three points in the Hawaii game off a goal and an assist, while Erica Meier and Addy Guida also notched goals over the first two games. Rebel junior goalkeeper Kylie Wassell earned the 10th shutout of her career in the win over NAU.
Scouting South Dakota State
The Jackrabbits bring a 1-1 mark into the weekend tournament, following a 2-0 win over Green Bay in the season opener, and a 5-0 setback to Wisconsin. Scoring the team's two goals last weekend were Darci Miller and Diana Potterveld, with both goals coming in the final nine minutes of the win over Green Bay. Elisa Stamatakis was in the net for both games for the Jacks.
This will be the first ever meeting between South Dakota State and UNLV. The Jacks were picked to finish second in the Summit League Preseason Poll, two points behind the favorite Oakland.
The Jayhawks, who begin the season with 10 straight home games, also split their opening weekend with both games going into extra time. Kansas knocked off UC Santa Barbara 2-1 on Aug. 17 in one overtime, before falling to Northwestern by the same score two days later, also in one overtime. Freshman forward Ashley Williams has two of the team's three goals on the year, while Kat Liebetrau boasts a 1.41 GAA with three saves in the net.
UNLV and Kansas have met three times before, with Kansas holding a 2-0-1 edge. The most recent contest was a 2-0 win by Kansas on Aug. 28, 2004 in Las Vegas.

Northern Arizona will be the fourth team in the tournament field.
