Rebels Head To The Sunshine State|
Sept. 6, 2007
LAS VEGAS -
The UNLV women's soccer team, off to its third 2-0 start in school history, will take on its first road challenge of the season this weekend, as the Rebels will play UCF and No. 22 South Carolina in the UCF Invitational. UNLV will meet UCF on Friday at 4:30 pm (PST), and South Carolina on Sunday at 8 am (PST).
Though the Rebels are now ranked regionally in both polls after wins over Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State, the competition this weekend is just as tough. Friday's opponent, UCF is 10th in the Southeast region and defeated UNLV on its home field last year. The Gamecocks meanwhile, the Rebels' opponent on Sunday, are ranked 22nd and upset No. 1 UNC on Sept. 1 in Chapel Hill, and are led by their goalkeeper Lindsay Thorstenson, who is the reigning NSCAA national Player of the Week.
