LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's soccer team takes to the road this weekend, as the Rebels take on a pair of opponentes, including their first conference game of the season. UNLV opens its Mountain West Conference schedule on Friday at Wyoming in Laramie at 3 p.m.. The Rebels will then take on Colorado College on Sunday at Noon in Colorado Springs, Colo.
UNLV (6-5-1), looking to break a two-game losing streak, nearly pulled off one of the biggest upsets in women's college soccer this year in its last game, as third-ranked UCLA scored with just three seconds left to escape with a 1-0 win over the Rebels on Oct. 3. The Rebels are led by junior midfielder Annii Magliulo, who is first on the team in goals (seven) and points (15), while senior Rachael Buscovich is second with three goals.
Wyoming brings a 5-6 record into Friday's contest. Mari Gomez paces the team with four goals and one assist for nine points, while Darci Ferrell has three goals and six points for the year.
Colorado College, 4-6-1 for the year, has won just once in its last five games, though it was a 1-0 double-overtime win over Montana, who owns a 2-0 win over UNLV this season. Stevie Kernan and Courtney Michel both have three goals to lead the team.
