LAS VEGAS - For the third time this season the UNLV women's soccer team will take on a ranked opponent, as the Rebels meet 18th-ranked Utah in a Mountain West Conference contest on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from Peter Johann Field.

The Rebels, playing their first home conference game of the season, hope to even their MWC record at 1-1 against the Utes. UNLV opened Mountain West play last weekend, falling on the road at Wyoming 1-0 on Oct. 10. Goalkeepers Jenna Huff and Desiree Kelly have been very strong in goal, helping the team post a 1.18 goals against average, third best in the league, and six shutouts on the season, one short of tying the school record set in 2001. On offense, the Rebels have been led by junior midfielder Anni Magliulo, tied for first in goals with seven, and tied for second in points with 16.

Utah, ranked for the first time in school history this season, is 11-2 on the year, and 2-0 in the conference after wins over Air Force and New Mexico this past weekend. Lauren Field is tied with Magluilo for the conference lead in goals with seven, and is tied second in points with 16. Missy Dennis is second in assists with six, while freshman goalies Ashley Mason and Kaycie Zimmerman are teaming up to allow just 0.63 goals per game, best in the conference and 20th in the nation.

Following the Utah game, the Rebels will then host BYU on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m., also at Peter Johann Field.
