LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's soccer team, riding a two-game win streak, looks to win its ninth straight game at home and remain in first place as they host the Air Force Falcons on Senior Day Sunday at Noon at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
The Rebels are 10-3-2 overall, and eighth in this week's NSCAA West region rankings, and 10th in Soccer Buzz's West region rankings. They hold a 3-1 record in conference play, and a win would put them back into a tie for first place in the Mountain West along with San Diego State (2-0-2), which would turn the Rebels' regular season finale at SDSU into a fight for the regular season championship as well.
UNLV is led on offense by senior midfielder Annii Magliulo and junior midfielder Jessica Brown, both tied for first on the team with two goals and five assists for nine points. With five points this past weekend, Magliulo also moved into a tie for first at UNLV with most career points with 66. Jenna Huff continues her outstanding season, posting a 0.77 GAA with 76 saves and seven shutouts for the year. Also playing their final home games of their career on the Rebels' Senior Day are defenders Jenni Ruiz, Blynnda Bascones, Codi Schumaker, goalkeeper Desiree Kelly, and Magliulo.
The Falcons are 3-11-2 overall and 0-4-1 in the MWC after a 2-0 loss at San Diego State on Friday night. Air Force are also 0-6-1 this year. Brittney Perkowski and Meredith Benson both pace the team with three goals apiece, while Perkowski also has tallied three assists for nine points. In goal is Jennifer Drew, who entered the weekend with a 1.58 GAA, and has 83 saves and two shutouts.
