UNLV Women's Soccer weekly release
The UNLV women's soccer team hopes to build some momentum going into next week's Mountain West Championships, as it will finish the regular season on Saturday night at Fresno State, starting at 6 pm. The Rebels are in a mix of three other teams that are all playing for the third seed in the league's postseason tournament, which will be hosted by San Diego State on Oct. 31-Nov. 4.
All About The Rebels
UNLV (10-3-4, 2-1-3 MW) will play the third of three straight road games to end the regular season with Saturday's contest at Fresno State. This will be the first meeting between the schools since 2005, and the all-time series is tied at 1-1-1. The Rebels are paced by junior forward Jenn Wolfe, who is second in the MW in goals (11), points (23), and game-winners (five). Senior midfielder Macy Jo Harrison meanwhile has a school-record eight assists on the year, which ranks her second in the league, and junior Kylie Wassell leads the league with eight shutouts on the year. UNLV comes into the weekend having allowed only three goals total over six league games.
Scouting Fresno State
The Bulldogs (4-9-5, 2-2-2) started out the year 0-6-3, but have rebounded to win four of its past nine games. Fresno State is paced this year by Callie Hancock with eight goals and 18 points, while Katie DeVault has a 1.62 GAA and 116 saves on the season in goal, which is 30 more then the next-best goalie in the conference.
