LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Two members of the UNLV women's soccer team received All-Mountain West Conference honors as the league's season awards were announced on Tuesday night by the league office.
Senior forward Ashleigh Shoughro was named to the first team for the second time in her career. A Las Vegas native, Shoughro led the league and set new UNLV records in both goals with 13 and points with 29. She is the all-time scoring leader at UNLV as well with 26, and was named MWC Offensive Player of the Week a league-high three times this season. She also paced the conference in game-winners with five. Shoughro's was named first team All-MWC in the 2008 season as well.
Amanda Forrester was named to the second team, marking her first career conference honor. A senior midfielder and Las Vegas native as well, Forrester turned in her best season yet as a Rebel, with six goals and three assists for 15 points.
The Rebels open play in the 2010 MWC Tournament on Wednesday as the fifth seed, and will meet fourth-seeded Utah at 12 pm. San Diego State is the host of this year's championships.
