Dec. 7, 2010
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - For the second time in her career, UNLV's Ashleigh Shoughro was selected as an all-region player, as she was named to the NSCAA All-Pacific Region Second Team, it was announced on Tuesday. The second-team honor is the highest ever by a Rebel player, while Shoughro also became the first-ever UNLV player to earn all-region honors twice, as she was a third-team selection in 2008 by the NSCAA.
Shoughro, a senior forward from Las Vegas, set several new UNLV season and career records while leading the Rebels to an 11-8-1 mark and an appearance in the Mountain West Conference Tournament Semifinals. A first-team All-MWC selection for the second time, she led the conference in both points (31) and goals (14), while her five game-winning goals also were tops in the league. New school records set by Shoughro included goals in a game (four), in a season, and goals in a career (27). Her 31 points broke her own school record of 28, while she finished her career with 64, fourth-best all-time at UNLV despite her only playing three years in Las Vegas after a freshman season at San Diego.
