LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's soccer player Katie Carney was named to the NSCAA All-West Region Third Team, it was announced this week. It is the first-ever all-region honor for Carney, and the third time in school history a Rebel has been named to the NSCAA All-Region team, including the second in two years.

Carney, a senior forward from Lake Forest, Calif., was the 2007 Mountain West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Rebels in scoring for the fourth straight year. She finished the season with 21 points this season, and had 10 in league play, second best in the MWC. She also had two game-winners in MWC games, including against No. 24 BYU on Nov. 2 in a 1-0 double-overtime win that clinched the regular season title for UNLV.

Carney, who was also named to the All-MWC First Team, finished her career at UNLV third all time in career points (65), third in career goals (23) and set new Rebel records with 19 career assists and nine game-winners.
