Marissa Nichols was chosen as the MWC's Player of the Week on Tuesday, March 1.

LAS VEGAS - UNLV freshman outfielder Marissa Nichols (Diamond Bar, Calif.) was chosen for the second-consecutive week as the Mountain West Conference's Player of the Week. Nichols followed up her award-winning performance at the UNLV Invitational (Feb. 17-20) with an impressive outing at the Palm Springs Classic this past weekend.
Nichols hit.389 (7-for-18) at the Palm Springs Classic in Cathedral City, Calif., with three home runs, a double, three RBI and five runs scored. She had a hit in four of the five games. In the Rebels first game of the Classic against Ohio State, she began the contest with a leadoff homer giving the Rebels an early 1-0 lead en route to a 6-0 victory. She went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored and was perfect on the base paths with two steals. She hit her second home run of the day against Oklahoma State and recorded one RBI and one run against the Cowgirls. She had a double and two singles in five at-bats against Bethune-Cookman and swiped two bases, as well. In the finale of the Classic, she hit her third solo home run of the weekend in a 1-for-3 performance against Cal State Fullerton.
With the addition of her three home runs this past weekend, Nichols now leads the Rebels or is tied for the lead in nearly every offensive categories. She is tops in batting average (.455), hits (30), doubles (5), triples (4), runs (16), RBI (16), total bases (55), slugging % (.833), OB% (.464), stolen bases (11-for-11) and is tied for the team lead with teammate Caitlyn Paus with four home runs.
Currently, she leads the MWC in hits (29), triples (4) and stolen bases (11). She is second in batting average (.455), runs scored (16) and RBI (16).
