Rebel Notes: Shayna begins her third season as a breaststroker with the Rebel swim team ... 2000 and 2004 Olympic Trials qualifier.

2003-04:Took second in the 100 breast (1:03.55), third in the 200 IM (2:05.28), and fourth in the 200 breast (2:19.89) at the 2004 MWCs ... swam on third place 400 medley and fourth place 200 medley relays 2002-03: Shayna took 34th place in the 100 breast (1:04.37) and 40th in the 200 breast (2:18.92) at the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Ala. She took third in the 100 breast (1:03.27) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:06.71) at the MWC Championships. She took second in the 200 breast (2:15.59) by nine-hundredth of a second. She also swam the second legs of the winning 400 medley relay (3:44.41) and the second-place 200 medley relay (1:42.86).

High School: Shayna is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence Park C.I. in Toronto, Canada ... placed first in the 50 and 100 breast at the 2002 Canadian Junior Nationals ... named MVP of the speed team in 2000 and 2002 ... also earned the Caney Cup Award of Athletic Leadership ... is also an Olympic Trials qualifier.

Personal: Shayna Alexandra Burns was born on June 30, 1983 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada ... daughter of Trevor and Diana Burns ... has one brother ... is undecided on a major ... considers her club coach, Kiril Zahariev, to be the greatest influence on her athletic career.
