Rebels Sweep Another Tri-Meet

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving team swept a home tri-meet with Wyoming and Nevada, Reno on Thursday night at the Buchanan Natatorium.
The Rebel men defeated Wyoming 127-114, while the women's team won over Nevada, Reno 127-115 and Wyoming 158-85.
Both the Rebel men and women won the 400 medley relays. The women's team of Tiffany Vincent, Shayna Burns, Julie Unrau and Katie Wronn won in 4:13.31, while the men's team of Adam Martinson, Bjorn Eriksson, Michael Day and Joe Bartoch won in 3:23.09.
Alyson Noble out-touched UNR's Alyssa Chin for the 200 free title. Noble finished in 1:51.57 and Chin took second in 1:52.57.
The Rebel men went 1-2-3 in both the 50 free and 200 back. Bjorn Eriksson won the 50 free in 20.98, while Jonathan Hugo finished second in 21.00 and Brandon Nelms took third in 21.05. The 200 back was won by Adam Martinson in 1:51.73. David Rodriguez took second in 1:54.52 and Adrian Law finished third in 1:55.93.
The women's team put together a 1-2-3 finish of their own in the 500 free. Alyson Noble won in 5:03.87, while Alison Zick finished second in 5:04.73 and Lani Seaman took third in 5:11.50.
Shayna Burns won the 200 IM in 2:06.05 and the 200 breast in 2:18.34. Teammate Julie Unrau took second in the 200 IM (2:07.99) and won the 200 fly in 2:05.68. Michael Day won the 200 IM (1:54.50) and the 200 fly (1:50.64) on the men's side.
Rounding out the individual finishes, Joe Bartoch won the 100 free in 46.15.
UNLV capped the meet with a pair of wins in the 400 free relay. The women's team of Katie Wronn, Lauren Browning, Alyson Noble and Jessie Bradshaw won in 3:29.74. Joe Bartoch, Bjorn Eriksson, John Byers and Brandon Nelms won on the men's side in 3:06.78.
UNLV hosts Air Force on Saturday at 6 p.m.
