Swim and Dive Team in Sixth at WAC Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - UNLV enters the last day of WAC Championship competition in sixth place with 186 total points. They moved up a place after a solid day in the pool from freshman Ashleigh Crowder and junior Janel Frei, who were both finalists in their respective events.

Crowder took third overall (16 points) in the 100 back with a time of 56.55, a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time. Frei clocked a time of 4:27.00 (13 points) for a sixth place finish in the 400 individual medley.

Jen Crowder just missed the finals of the 100 breaststroke, finishing in ninth place with a time of 1:05.50 and giving the Rebels nine points. Sarah Schneider swam 106.04 for six points and an 11th place finish in the same event. Donna Wu also narrowly missed final cuts with her 1:51.93 time in the 200 free.

The WAC Championships conclude tomorrow with the finals in the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform diving and the 400 freestyle relay.
