AUSTIN, Texas - UNLV women swimmers Lisa Gillespie and Marva Harpak turned in top-16 finishes to help the Rebels to seventh place (67 points) after the first day of action in the University of Texas Invitational on Thursday, while the Rebel men are in 10th place (38).

Gillespie had the highest finish of the day, placing 15th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.06. Harpak also scored at night, placing 16th in the 500 free in 5:01.47. UNLV's 400 medley relay team of Amanda Weinbrecht, Kim Bonney, Marina Sandback, and Megan Hunt-Higgins earned an eighth place finish in 3:48.07, while Hunt-Higgins, Sandback, Megan Clark, and Bonney swam the 200 free relay to 15th place (1:33.67).

On the men's side, the highlights was the ninth place finish in the 200 free relay, by the team of Richard Hortness, Tamas Bosnyak, Peter Lorring, and Deven Phillips in 1:23.68. The same four also swam on the 400 medley relay, which finished in 11th place in 3:22.84.

The three-day invitational continues Friday, and concludes on Saturday.
