LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost a non-conference dual meet on Friday afternoon at USC. The ninth-ranked USC men topped No. 16 UNLV 155-98, while the Trojan women defeated the Rebels by a 158-90 score.

For the Rebel men, winning individual events on the afternoon was Steven Nelms in the 50 free (20.57), David Szele in the 100 breast (55.19) and John Mendoza in the 400 IM (4:14.04). UNLV also took first in the 200 free relay, with Nelms, Charlie Tapp, Cody Roberts and Kyle Virva turning in a time of 1:22.38.

On the women's side, wins came from Jessica Heim in the 500 free (5:04.54), Katelyne Herrington in the 100 fly (56.37) and Marley Prothero in the 400 IM (4:39.92). UNLV's 200 free relay squad of Rachel Dixon, Friderika Szel, Herrington and Lara Sreibers posted a winning time of 1:37.53.

The next event for both teams will be a home MWC dual meet against TCU on Friday, Jan. 7 at 4 pm in Buchanan Natatorium.
