Rebel's Complete a Solid Weekend in the Winter Invite

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Rebels' Annual Winter Invite came to a close today as both the men's and women's teams finished with over 1,000 points (1,056.5 for the women and 1521 for the men).

Tomasz Piotrowski, in the 200 backstroke (1:47.43), and freshman Andrew Livingston, in the 200 butterfly (1:46.81), made NCAA provisional qualifying times. Livingston's time in the 200 fly was just four-tenths of a second away from an automatic trip to Auburn, and was the eighth best time in the nation through this weekend's action.

Also making soft cuts was Ryan Kelly in the 100 freestyle (44.83), and Doug Wake in the 200 fly (1:49.54), bringing the three-day total to nine UNLV Rebels gaining consideration for the NCAA Championships in March.

The UNLV women also had a solid weekend. After making soft cuts for the NCAA Championships Sunday night in the 100 backstroke (56.63) freshman Ashleigh Crowder recorded a career-best 2:02.26 in the 200 back. Sarah Schneider also turned in a great performance with a season-best 2:22.77 in the 200 breaststroke.

UNLV's next meet is scheduled for January 7 when the Rebels travel to San Diego to take on California and San Diego State. The next home contest in January 24 against WAC foe, Utah.
