Weinbrecht Named Swimmer Of The Week
Nov. 9, 2005
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second straight week a UNLV freshman was named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, as Amanda Weinbrecht was honored by the conference on Wednesday for her outstanding performances in a Rebel win at TCU on Nov. 4.
A native of San Diego, Calif., Weinbrecht won both of her invididual events, and helped the 200 medley relay to a first place swim as well. She won the 100 back by almost a second with a time of 58.31, and would complete the sweep in the back events with a first-place time of 2:04.29 in the 200 back. Her 200 back time was the 10th fastest in UNLV history, and is currently the best mark in the conference this season. She also led off the Rebels' 200 medley relay, swimming the backstroke leg while helping them to a time of 1:47.69.
The UNLV men and women will take on a pair of conference rivals this weekend on the road. The Rebels will meet BYU in Provo, Utah on Friday at 4 pm, and then take on Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday at 2 pm.
