LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's and women's swim team will swim a tri-meet on Saturday against BYU and Toronto at Noon, and the Rebels will be looking a big performance in against the preseason conference favorite Cougars.

The 21st-ranked BYU men (1-0, 0-0) and the Rebels (2-0 overall, 1-0 MWC) were picked one-two in the preseason coaches poll, and the winner of Saturday's meet will have the upper-hand in the race for the regular season championship. BYU won its only meet on the year over Notre Dame, as two diving wins by Scott Randall led them to a 153-144 victory in October. UNLV has been led by its depth, as Joe Bartoch was a double-winner in a upset win at Arizona State, while Kyle Goodrich won twice in a conference victory over Utah last Saturday.

The Rebels women (0-3, 0-1) are coming off a 163-135 loss on Thursday against UNR. Julie babin and Kari Nettenstrom paced UNLV against Reno winning the 1000 free and the 500 free, respectively. The BYU match-up will be the second conference meeting for UNLV this season. The Rebels stand 0-1 in MWC action after falling to Utah 141-97 Saturday.

The Cougars (3-0, 1-0) won the Lobo invite last weekend in New Mexico with 1,122 points, besting four opposing squads. Leading BYU is MWC Female Swimmer of the week Brittany Davis. Davis has posted five first place finishes for the Cougars this season, including a 500 free victory (5:03.23) last weekend.
