Heim Named Swimmer Of The Week
Nov. 16, 2010
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV freshman Jessica Heim has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It is the first weekly honor of her career, and she is the first Rebel to earn women's weekly honors from the MWC since Zsuzsanna Jakabos on Jan. 13, 2009.
Heim, a native of San Diego, Calif., was a triple-event winner for the Rebels this past Saturday, helping UNLV to a 156-144 conference dual meet victory over Colorado State in Las Vegas. She recorded victories in the 500 free, the 1000 free and the 200 fly. She also swam on the Rebels' first place 400 free relay against the Rams, which sealed the victory for UNLV.
Heim ranks third in the league currently in the 500 free, and is second in the other two events. Her performance also marked the second straight week she swept all three events, as she recorded wins in all three in a meet against BYU on Nov. 6.
UNLV will next compete in the Arena Cup, held in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 18-20.
