Position:
Assistant Coach

Returning to the UNLV tennis program is former Rebel star performer Asaf Tishler, who will work with the women's team starting this spring.

Tishler, 31, lettered for UNLV from 1996-99 and peppered his name throughout the school's record book. The native of Tel Aviv, Israel, still stands seventh in career singles victories with 85 and fifth in doubles wins with 81.

A two-time All-Western Athletic Conference honoree, Tishler reached a career-high national ranking of 19 on April 20, 1999. A much-decorated player, Tishler was the 1997 ITA Regional Player to Watch, the 1998 Regional Arthur Ashe Leadership Award honoree and the 1999 ITA Regional Senior Player of the Year. He also stands as one of only five Rebels to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship more than once in a career. A top student, he was voted CoSIDA Academic All-American as a senior en route to earning his degree in hotel administration.

"This spring marks a new transition with Asaf joining us," head coach Kevin Cory said. "He brings not only a wealth of playing experience but has proven himself to be an up-and-coming coach. I know he's excited to get back to the collegeiate level at his alma mater."
