Women's Tennis Opens Season With Shutout|

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women’s tennis team opened its 2018 dual match season by blanking New Mexico State 7-0 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on a breezy Friday.
The hosts took both completed doubles matches and then swept singles play.
Junior Aiwen Zhu, who went 22-6 in singles last season, continued to impress at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, downing Vanessa Valdez, 6-2, 6-2, to improve to 11-1 in her career when playing at the top position.
NET NOTE: Since losing to Oregon to open the 2015 season, UNLV has won three straight lid-lifters – all against NMSU – by a combined score of 18-0.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Juliet Zhang, a freshman out of Vancouver, Canada, went a combined 2-0 in her first team match at UNLV, including shutting out her opponent at the sixth position of singles, 6-0, 6-0.
STAT OF THE MATCH: UNLV lost only one set in both singles and doubles play.

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: After taking Saturday off, the Rebels are back on the courts Sunday when they host Weber State, starting with doubles play a 10 a.m. Admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge.
