Women's Tennis Blanks Colorado State

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Sunday’s Las Vegas weather was perfect and so was the UNLV women’s tennis team, which completed an undefeated weekend with a 4-0 win over Mountain West opponent Colorado State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels, who also took a doubleheader of matches Saturday, improved to 6-3 while the Rams fell to 4-4.

UNLV won in doubles by taking both completed matches and then won the first set on all six courts en route to the shutout.

REBEL OF THE MATCH: Aiwen Zhu teamed with En-Pei Huang for a 6-2 win at the top of the doubles lineup and then clinched the overall match when she downed Priscilla Palermo 6-2, 6-1 in singles. Zhu, ranked 63rd in the nation, improved to 7-0 in dual matches this spring and 17-5 overall during her junior year.

STAT OF THE MATCH: UNLV has not lost a singles match during five home matches this season.

QUOTABLE: “This was a good weekend for us. CSU pushed us in a lot of sets today and that will help us in matches down the road.”
