Women's Tennis Blanks Iowa State

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 67th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team posted its fourth shutout of the season Sunday with a 7-0 final over Iowa State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Lady Rebels improved to 6-3 while the Cyclones fell to 1-5.
UNLV got on the board first by sweeping three doubles matches for one team point. Lucia Batta and Nives Pavlovic won 8-6 over Jenna Langhorst and Ksenia Pronina at the top position; Aleksandra Josifoska and Janine Erasmus doubled up Simona Cacciuttolo and Caroline Hauge Anderson, 8-4, at No. 2; and Iren Kotseva and Anett Ferenczi-Bako teamed up for an 8-6 victory over Meghan Cassens and Ana Gasparovic on court three.
In singles play, Josifoska, ranked 19th nationally, improved to 20-6 on the season with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) super-tiebreaker win over Cacciuttolo at the No. 1 spot. Batta remained perfect in eight dual matches this year with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Pronina at No. 2. Meanwhile, Pavlovic won 6-3, 6-0 over Gasparovic at No. 3 to move the senior into a tie for eighth all-time at UNLV with 78 singles wins. Ferenczi-Bako swept Cassens 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4; Erasmus used a super-tiebreaker to down Langhorst, 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 5; and Kotseva rolled past Emma Waites, 6-0, 6-2, on court six.
UNLV is next in action on March 8 when it hosts a doubleheader vs. Utah State and UC Riverside. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
