LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 64th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team shut out Nevada, Reno 7-0 on a breezy Friday in the first half of a doubleheader at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Lady Rebels improved to 7-4 overall while the Wolf Pack dropped to 2-4.
UNLV began the morning by taking two of three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead. Aleksandra Josifoska and Nives Pavlovic downed Juliette Legendre and Emma Verbeme 8-6 at the top spot while Lucia Batta and Manon de Lanlay got by Michelle Okhremchuk and Faith Bassiouny 8-5 on court two.
In singles, Batta, ranked 58th, remained undefeated in 11 dual matches this season as her 6-2, 6-4 win over Okhremchuk at the top position improved her overall record to 21-6. Also winning in straight sets: No. 113 Josifoska over Emma Verberne 7-5, 6-4 at the second spot; Pavlovic over Sophie Stevens 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3; Manon de Lanlay over Legrende 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4; Anett Ferenczi-Bako over Gabriella Eufrasio 6-1, 7-6 at No. 5; and Ella Bourchier over Rymma Maslova 6-2, 6-2 on court six.
UNLV was scheduled to take on Northern Arizona later in the day.
