FORT COLLINS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - Forced to play late and indoors for a second straight day because of snowy conditions, the 61st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team was upset by Wyoming 4-2 Saturday night in a neutral-site match at the Miramount Lifestyle Fitness Center.
The Lady Rebels fell to 15-7 overall and 5-2 in Mountain West play. Because of the rescheduling forced by the wintry weather, the match was stopped when a team reached four points.
UNLV had to attempt to climb out of a 1-0 hole after losing all three doubles matches to start things.
In singles, Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 37th in the nation, downed Veronica Popovici 7-5, 6-1 at the top spot. Lucia Batta, ranked 82nd, stayed undefeated in dual matches this season at a staggering 21-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Simona Synkova at the second position. That was all the scoring for the Lady Rebels, however, as the Cowgirls earned a comeback win on court three that set them up for the team victory.
UNLV will close out its regular-season schedule Sunday when it faces Air Force in Fort Collins at 10 a.m. PT.
