LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - All seven members of the 2012 UNLV women's tennis team earned a spot on the Academic All-Mountain West Team, which was released by the league this week.
The seven honorees tied a program record and only New Mexico had more than the Lady Rebels with eight.
Pacing UNLV was senior four-time honoree Rumyana Terzieva, who boasts a 3.50 GPA in art. Also making a repeat appearance was junior Ella Bourchier (3.57), sophomore 2012 MW Player of the Year Lucia Batta (3.16) and sophomore Aleksandra Josifoska (3.00).
To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor.
Head coach Kevin Cory's program also tied Boise State for the league lead with four players earning the additional honor of 2012 MW Scholar-Athlete - Bourchier, de Lanlay, Ferenczi-Bako and Terzieva.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
