LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former professional player Tetiana Luzhanska has been named UNLV women’s tennis assistant, head coach Kevin Cory announced Friday.
“We are thrilled to add Tetiana to the Rebel family,” Cory said. “She brings a wealth of tennis experience and is a coach who can immediately help our student-athletes reach their goals.”
Luzhanska, a native of Ukraine, earned a career-high WTA singles ranking of 131 in 2011 after rising as high as No. 99 in the world in doubles four years earlier. Having retired in 2013 with 20 ITF doubles championships and a pair of singles titles, Luzhanska has most recently been an elite private teacher of the sport.
“I would like to thank Coach Cory for this opportunity and I look forward to working with the team this season,” she said. “I hope that sharing the experience of having played at a high level with the Rebels will only help a successful program get even better.”
The UNLV women’s team opens its fall season by hosting a fall invitational September 22-24.
