Katie Barto

One of the program's top all-time athletes, former Rebel distance star Katie Barto joins her alma mater this year as a volunteer coach.

During the 2000 season, Barto became only the second Rebel in school history to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships and turned in the school's best performance at the national meet placing 74th overall. She still holds two outdoor school records in the 3,000 meters (9:49.94) and 5,000 meters (16:27.92).

A three-time academic all-conference selection and Dean's List student, Barto was named NCAA Woman of the Year for the state of Nevada in 2001. She also received All-Mountain West Conference first team honors in cross country as a senior.

In 2001, Barto graduated from UNLV with a bachelor's degree in biology. She currently resides in Henderson and is the oldest daughter of UNLV men's soccer coach Barry Barto.
